g Victoria

Climbing Victoria is the representative body for recreational climbing organisations and individuals in Victoria. It comprises a broad range of experienced representatives of the climbing community, appointed by the members of the organisation. Our Purposes and Code of Conduct guide the policy and direction of our organisation and set a standard for the way we deal with each other.

Climbing Victoria has only recently been officially incorporated and a number of steps need to be taken to fully formalise the organisation. The following  information outlines the steps we need to get there.

Board Elections

After a reasonable period for membership applications, we will move to the formal election of a board at an AGM. Here is a quick overview of the make-up of the board and the voting process.

  • Five board members will be elected by Full Member Organisations (FMOs) at an Annual General Meeting.
  • If there are more than 30 individual members, they can vote for an Individual Member Representative to sit on the board.
  • The five or six members elected to the board will appoint a Chair and Secretary from their team at their first meeting after the AGM.
  • At this first meeting, or any subsequent meetings, the board can consider the appointment of any further board members (up a maximum board size of eight) to balance, diversify or supplement the skills and experience of the board.

Board Position Nominations

Any member can be nominated or nominate themselves for a position on the board for a term of two years. The Full Member Organisations will be looking to elect applicants that combine to provide a range of appropriate skills, experience and background to compliment each other and maximise the effectiveness of the board. Applicants should be prepared to make a substantial contribution to the direction and operation of Climbing Victoria during their term, in strong support of its Purposes and consistent with its Code of Conduct.

Timetable

More information on the timing of our first AGM and election of the board will provided soon.

Other Preparations

While we are establishing memberships and the AGM, we will also be working on domain names, emails and SM accounts to set up communication channels for information and questions.
